Meet Our Head Instructor – Richard Merkl
Richard Merkl is the proud Head Instructor at Jado Kuin Do Family Martial Arts. A 3rd Degree Black Belt with over 10 years of training and 5 years of teaching experience, Richard is a fully qualified instructor with full DBS and safeguarding certification. He’s passionate about helping students grow, not just in skill, but in confidence, self-belief, and mental well-being.
Richard’s journey with Jado Kuin Do began over a decade ago, and it quickly became more than just a martial art, it became a way of life. His goal is to support others in finding strength through discipline and joy through movement. His teaching philosophy is grounded in two simple rules:
1. Have fun.
2. Give it your all.
Outside the dojo, Richard is a family man, happily married with two amazing daughters who keep him on his toes. When he's not teaching or training, you'll likely find him out on the golf course, diving into a history documentary, or admiring classic and modern cars alike. He believes that balance is key, between work and play, mind and body, seriousness and a good laugh.
Richard brings not just expertise, but real heart to every class. Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to advance your skills, he’s here to help you become the best version of yourself.

Meet Instructor Rene
Hi, I’m Rene! I’m a 2nd Degree Black Belt and fully qualified Jado Kuin Do instructor with full DBS certification. I’ve been training for 7 years and teaching for the past 4—and I can honestly say that Jado has changed my life in all the best ways.
Through this martial arts journey, I’ve grown in confidence, developed real focus, and learned the power of believing in myself. That transformation is something I bring into every class I teach. For me, helping others discover their own strength, self-worth, and potential is the most rewarding part of being an instructor.
Whether you're taking your first steps on the mat or looking to sharpen your skills, I’m here to support you, cheer you on, and make sure you enjoy the journey. The only thing you really need to remember is this:
Always have fun!
